Clients need advice they can rely on, with clear assumptions and no surprises. For Mon Geotech, that comes down to integrity: being honest about what we know, objective in our judgement, and accountable for what we deliver.
As Mon Geotech’s founder I strive to put integrity at the heart of the operation. To build a business that clients can trust and that project teams enjoy working with. This is why I chose ‘Integrity’ as our second value. To me, integrity means knowing what’s right and acting on it. That means I don’t believe in integrity without idealism and action. In fact, it’s action that makes the difference between a lived value and a value only present on the company website.
Our first value, ‘Curiosity’, defines Mon Geotech’s approach to projects. Our second, ‘Integrity’, is the foundation upon which we build trusting relationships with our clients and collaborators. Integrity builds trust through consistency. Clients and project teams should know how we will behave, even when things don’t go to plan.
When it comes to behaviours, we can’t adhere to a code of conduct that is not well defined. The ICE Code of Conduct and the Nolan Principles are useful starting points, but we are aiming for something simpler for Mon Geotech, more akin to the Commando Values of Excellence, Integrity, Self Discipline and Humility. We’ve settled on three ‘Directives’ that guide our behaviours and let our clients and project teams know what to expect from us. They are:
- Be honest – We will be transparent about what we know, what we do not know yet, and what we recommend doing next. We will also be upfront about assumptions, uncertainties, and risk.
- Be objective – We will test options against evidence, codes, and experience. We will challenge our own first answer, welcome challenge from others, and update our view when new information appears.
- Be accountable – We will do what we say we will do. If we get something wrong, we will say so early, explain the impact, and put it right.
These directives are simple, but they are not easily followed. They take discipline, especially when programmes are tight and the uncertainty is high. This is exactly why integrity matters: it gives clients a predictable way of working and a clearer line of sight on risk. In turn, this leads to confident decision making and efficient projects. If you are looking for geotechnical advice that is direct, evidence-led, and delivered with integrity, we would love to hear from you.
